Plan a Park Day That Actually Works

You don't need an app or a spreadsheet. Five decisions get you on more rides with less waiting. Here's the framework we use for every park in our guides.

  1. 1

    Pick your headliner

Every park has one ride people line up an hour for. Find it in the park guide, and plan to ride it first — at rope drop or in the last hour, never midday.

  2. 2

    Ride tall-and-fast early

Waits on the biggest coasters climb fast after 11am. Knock out your top 3 intensity rides in the first two hours while lines are short.

  3. 3

Bank the water rides for heat

Save water rides for the hottest part of the afternoon. You dry off, and you skip the worst of the queue spike on the dry coasters.

  4. 4

    Eat off-peak

Eat lunch at 11 or 2, not noon-to-1. You walk onto rides while everyone else is in the food line.

  5. 5

    Pack once, pack right

A blister or a dead phone ends a park day early. The free checklist below is the exact kit we bring — nothing extra, nothing missing.
